Why is there ice on pipes going to the compressor outside and ice on the pipes going to the a/c coil attached to the furnace or air handler inside?

You may have a dirty air filter or you could be low on Freon. To determine which one it is turn your thermostat off cooling and turn the fan on. Let the fan run for several hours or until the ice is melted. You might also have to replace the filter. Turn the thermostat back to cool and monitor the situation to see if it reoccurs. If it happens again call a licensed HVAC technician as soon as possible.
